Project 1:  Organizing Files.  Create a folder on a computer using the correct naming protocol and learn to save files there.  Also create a file on a thumbdrive and learn to copy files to the external drive. Understand different file types and when to use what. Learn about different drives and learn to save to a USB. Getting Organized

Project 2:  Business Name and Logo.  You are the owner of a graphic design company and you must design a logo that represents your company.  You will create a sketch of it and then you will design it in PowePoint.

  • Learn to sketch

  • Alter WordArt, Autoshapes and Clipart
  • Save as PowerPoint file and as image file

 

Project 3:  Business Card.  You will design your business card for your company using Publisher.  You will import your logo into Publisher and add the following elements:

  1. Visible logo
  2. Name of Company
  3. Your full name
  4. School Address
  5. School Telephone Number
  6. Find an available webpage for your Company using www.godaddy.com. Add that webpage address (URL) to your business card.
  7. Include an email address using the URL you checked at godaddy.com (example edwards@edwardsclasses.com)

 

Project 4:  Review Tech Lab Safety/Move Into Tech Lab. 

  1. Go through Safety on Band Saw, Drill Press, and Belt/Disc Sander
  2. Safety PowerPoint
  3. General and Machine Safety Crosswords
  4. Tech Lab Tour
  5. Safety Test
  6. Move into Technology Lab

 

Project Family Calendar.  You will design the top part of your calendar in PowerPoint.  You will scan family pictures or bring them in digitally and insert them into the calendar. You will make the top part of your calendar look digitally scrapbooked by rotating pictures, adding graphocs and inserting text.  Each of the 12 calendar tops must have the following:

  1. At least one family picture
  2. One textbox or Wordart
  3. One extra graphic relating to that month or the family picture

The bottom 12 pages of the calendar you will create in Publisher using the calendar wizard.  Once you have one page for each month of the next year, you must find the federal holidays on the internet for that year and add them into your calendar in the appropriate cell.  Then you will research your immediate family birthdays and special occasions and you will add those to your calendar.  The more holidays, the better your grade. Once both parts are complete, you may print them out in color and bind them using ribbon.  Calendar Project

 

Wood Project.  You will design a wooden sign or small project by combining freehand techniques and graphic design from the computer.  This project will be for a family member--it cannot be for yourself.  Once you have your full scale design, you will use carbon paper to transfer the design to your mill end.  From there you will use the powertools to make that design come to life.  You will use the Dremel Tool, Router, Drill Press, Band Saw and Belt Sander. You will hand sand it until there are no blemished and then you will stain or paint it in the paint room.  The last piece is to properly place picture hangers on the sign so it is easy to hang.  Wood Project Rubric

 

Project Yearbook Page.  You will choose or be assigned a yearbook page.  For that page you will take or collect pictures for that group or event and then you will format the page in a protessional way using Word or PowerPoint.  Your margins will be .5 and all of your graphics will need to be "tight."  You will need captions describing your pictures.  Yearbook Rubric

 

Project Dragsters.  You will go step by step through the dragster packet that will teach you about aerodynamics, speed, drag and much more!  Do not skip a step or you may miss something!  Dragster Rubric
